About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant community of Brent Street, London, Original Lahore Restaurant & Takeaway offers an authentic taste of Pakistan that beckons both locals and visitors craving rich, aromatic flavors and hearty, comforting meals. Specializing in traditional Pakistani cuisine and kebabs, this welcoming eatery strikes the perfect balance between a casual takeaway spot and a warm, inviting restaurant, making it a go-to destination for anyone seeking genuine desi dining experiences.

The menu is a treasure trove of classic delicacies that burst with tantalizing aromas and vibrant colors. Signature dishes like the Lamb Seekh Kebab stand out with their smoky char and succulent, spiced mince that melts in your mouth, while the Pakistani Chicken Biryani and Lamb Biryani are aromatic masterpieces layered with tender meat, fragrant basmati rice, and a symphony of spices that awaken every sense. Complementing these are staples such as Pilau Rice, fluffy and fragrant; Half Tandoori Chicken with its charred, juicy skin; and comforting Tarka Daal that delivers warmth in every spoonful.

Vegetarian offerings like Vegetable Biryani and Chilli Paneer Tikka speak to the restaurant’s inclusive approach, lovingly crafted to deliver plenty of heat and flavor without compromising on texture or freshness. The freshly baked Tandoori Roti and hot, flaky Paratha straight from the tandoor provide the perfect vehicle for the richly spiced curries such as the creamy Karahi Butter Chicken or the zesty, vibrant Jalfrezi. Even those with a sweet tooth will find delight in desserts like the pistachio-studded Pistachio Kulfi.

What truly elevates the dining experience here is the atmosphere—fostered by friendly staff who make you feel like a cherished guest and a cozy environment that invites you to slow down and savor every bite. It’s easy to see why customers like Lee Smith appreciate the “lovely food,” “friendly staff,” and “nice atmosphere,” praising the generous rice portions—a subtle but significant detail that shows respect for value and satisfaction. For many, this isn’t just a meal; it’s a comforting retreat reminiscent of a “proper desi dinner at home,” as Charles beautifully put it.

The restaurant also excels in accommodating takeout guests, handling busy moments with efficient service and careful attention to customer preferences — whether it’s adding extra chili sauce to a paneer tikka roll or ensuring a fresh batch of onion bhajis even during a weeknight rush, as Meeten Shah observed. This genuine care and consistency make Original Lahore an especially reliable choice for those craving quality Pakistani flavors without fuss or disappointment.

Longtime fans like Monty Nawaz, who has been loyal to the original East London location for over 30 years, are thrilled to have this closer spot to satisfy their cravings, proving the brand’s enduring appeal and commitment to authentic taste.

While some dishes, such as the Karahi Ghost, might invite a bit of constructive feedback for deeper layers of flavor, the overall consensus remains strong—a place where passion for food meets stellar service in a clean, inviting setting. As Daniel Hay shared, despite minor critiques, the experience “was pretty good” and worth returning to.

If you’re seeking a destination in London to indulge in expertly spiced kebabs, rich biryanis, and an array of classic Pakistani dishes crafted with love and tradition, Original Lahore Restaurant & Takeaway on Brent Street is a stellar choice. From the first aroma to the last spoonful, it leaves a lasting impression that invites you to come back for more.

Lovely food. Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Decent size rice portions too, unlike some Turkish restaurants I’ve been too with rice served up in tiny ice cream like goblets at rip off prices. Some photos attached. Decide for yourself.

We ordered dinner after a long workday when no one wanted to cook. The food brought everyone to the table quietly enjoying their plates. It felt like a proper desi dinner at home.

Ordered paneer tikka rolls and onion bhaji. There was a line in front so had to wait (midweek). 4x rolls were made, and one with extra chilli sauce (as requested). Service was fine and no issues with altering order. Food was brilliant. All 4 people enjoyed it thoroughly and am looking forward to going back again.

Overall, it was pretty good, and I would happily come here again. As a previous critic pointed out, the karahi ghost just lacked a bit of flavour to it. It certainly looked good and smelt good but just didn't thrill me. So hopefully, the chef reads this review. Anyway, apart from that, everything else that was ordered was spot on. The service was also very good and the dining area was clean. Definitely worth a try.

+The delivered chicken tikka & kebabs were the spiciest I've tasted. Well cooked and tasty like the typical kebabish restaurants . +Kebabs were very meaty and larger than standard; one is the size of two regular kebabs from other restaurants put together. + Credit where it's due: Larger portions of chicken for lower prices than competitors . Hence I will definitely repeat purchases & try other dishes . - The negative was lack of sauces ( I requested all sauces to be included in the notes) which dampens the experience. Usually, kebab rolls go with coriander or mint chutney, mayo and chilli sauce. The additional chilli sauce purchased was like spicy ketchup.

Kebabs and qeema nans are the best. Service was not amazing but there's nothing to complain about. For the kebabs I would definitely go back again. We held a after funeral get together there but it was well versed and arranged. Thanks to the owner and the staff.
